Hawaiian Community Assets, Inc. (HCA) is a non-profit organization with a mission to increase the capacity of low-income communities and individuals in Hawaii to achieve economic self-sufficiency, with particular focus on Native Hawaiians.

We develop and promote innovative solutions that help people and communities become, and remain, economically secure. The Insight Center for Community Economic Development is a national research, consulting, and legal organization dedicated to building economic health in vulnerable communities.

Building on the skills of local residents, the power of local associations, and the supportive functions of local institutions, asset-based community development draws upon existing community strengths to build stronger, more sustainable communities for the future The Asset-Based Community Development Institute (ABCD), established in 1995 by the Community Development Program at Northwestern University's Institute for Policy Research, is built upon three decades of community development research by John Kretzmann and John L. McKnight. The ABCD Institute spreads its findings on capacity-building community development through extensive and substantial interactions with community builders, and by producing practical resources and tools for community builders to identify, nurture, and mobilize neighborhood assets.
