Upon receipt of your order we will send you a fingerprint impression kit, enough to take up to two fingerprints. Taking fingerprints is a very simple process and we provide step by step instructions. You will then return the fingerprint impressions to us in the pre-paid envelope along with the order form. We will then create your unique piece of jewellery in our studio. As fingerprints are so unique so also will be the amount of definition of the fingerprint whirls. This does not always apply to age as some young babies have more defined prints than some older children, although generally the younger the child the less defined the print. If you are worried that that you cannot see any hirls send us the molds anyway as we use a pouring resin which picks up fine detail. Occasionally, with very young babies the best we can get is a dimple! most of our customers wish us to proceed. If however you do not want us to continue to make your item please state this on the order form that we send you, otherwise we will continue to make your item. Please be aware that the final outcome will only be as good as the impression we receive. Each piece is made by hand to the highest standard using a substance called precious metal clay. PMC is made by combining pure silver particles with an organic binder. When your piece of fingerprint jewellery is formed it is fired in a kiln which burns off the organic binder, leaving .999 pure silver. 999 pure silver is 99% silver unlike sterling silver which is 92.5% silver. Sterling silver is combined with other alloys mainly copper in order to give it strength. This is why all the fittings used with your fingerprint jewellery are sterling silver. After firing your fingerprint jewellery is tumbled, antiqued and polished by hand. Some customers prefer not to have their fingerprint jewellery item antiqued, preferring instead a shinier, more commercial looking piece. In order to antique silver the item is dipped in a chemical solution that oxidises the silver, eventually turning it black. This has to be polished off b hand leaving the impressions and engraving black. Due to the nature of pmc, surface variations are to be expected and add to the natural beauty and individuality of these unique keepsakes. If on the other hand you prefer a more sterling silver look we like to give you the option of bypassing the antiquing process. The fingerprint and name is still visible but not as pronounced. If you would like this option you will be able to specify this on the order form that we send you. Once complete your unique piece of fingerprint jewellery will be sent back to you, beautifully packaged in our floating frame boxes which can also be used as a phot frame after. We will send your parcel by recorded delivery or special delivery if you prefer at an extra cost. We also do international orders but please contact us with postage costs. Fingerprint Jewellery Charms How does the ordering work? We send you an impressio kit(s) and your partly-completed order form. You take your fingerprint impression using the very easy, non-toxix, putty impression kit. It takes minutes. if you dont like the print, simply re-roll & try again. You then fill in your choice of wording, & the names you want on the front & back and return it in our pre-paid envelopes. Finished pieces are normally sent Royal Mail Recorded Delivery within 6-10 days (3 weeks if hallmarked) of receiving the completed impressions back. This time will extend during busy periods such as Christmas and Fathers Day. Will I see my childs print clarity? It does depends on the size of your childs finger and the depth of the lines on their finger. the shallowere the lines the less defined they may be. But even with few lines or undefined ones you still get a nice finger-shaped imprint. If we receive a print that has no line, we will contact you before proceeding. If the lines are feint and the child is under 18 months we assume you are happy for us to go ahead. You must let us know if this is not the case. the best prints are a nice oval shape taken from the flat pad of the finger not the tip and are the same depth throughout. We assure you are happy with what you send in. How old does my child have to be? We can do a print at any age through the smaller the finger the less defined the print may be and we recommend waiting until a baby is older than 4months if you really want to see lines. As for upper age, there is none. We can do any age really for all sorts of occasions - Christening, birthdays, Births, Weddings, Anniversaries, Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Graduation, Gay Weddings & many more! How eay is the impression to take at home? It is very simple and easy. You simply roll two balls of a plastercine-like substance together in your fingers for 1 minute. You do not need to measure out anything or mix with water, simply rub the 2 colours together until they become 1 colour. Full instruction are given and if you are not happy simply re-roll and try again. But please be assured that if we receive your print and it has no lines or is not suitable we will re-send you another kit at an extra charge of £2.50. I love my print and want another -do i get another impression kit? If you are happy for us to use the mould we already have then no you dont need to do it again. if the personalisation is differfant to the original order you must tell us at the time of re-ordering otherwise we will assume you want it the same. But we do have customers who comw back a year or so later and they want a new print for the age of their child then and so a new mould would be required in that case. When you receive your impression kit you will also receive an order form. The form will already have your purchased items listed. All you need to do is fill out the rest of the form to let us know the name you want on the charms. How long can the messages anc names be? Wu use hand stamping or hand written lettering in lowercase so you can have a longer message on. Depending on the size of the name, we can normally fir 6 letters on a regular charm & 8 on a large charm. What is the differance between sterling silver & solid silver? Sterling silver is 92.5% pure & Solid silver is 99.9% pure. Will m Charm be hallmarked? If you require you charm hallmarked this takes around 3 weeks from the day we get your prints back to us. It is a £20 extra cost as we have to send it away to sheffiled assay office. How will the finished charms be sent? The finished charms & jewellery will be sent Royal Mail Recorded Delivery, if you require it sooner then there will be an extra cost for Special Delivery. We also ship Internationally, please conatact us for a quote. When will I receive my pieces? We aim to have your pieces completed & sent with 1 week form receiving them. This is sometimes not the case at busy periods such as Christmas & Fathers Day but we still try our best. How natural is the fingerprint impression kit? It is a completely safe & non-toxic process but an adult must be present at all times & take the print & return it back to us. Will my charms be soldered? If you want your jump rings soldered please comment on our order form to say so. There is normally a £2 extra cost for this. Can I order differant lengths of chain? Yes you can order differant lengths on most chains, necklaaces at no extra cost at the moment, only available on some products. Damaged. Please open your parcel as soon as you receive it to check that it is undamaged. You only have until 2 pm the next working day to inform us of any damage.
