The Byron Shire Echo is a free weekly tabloid newspaper in Byron Bay, NSW Australia. For over 25 years it has reported on local news. politics, environmental and progressive issues, while publishing sections on entertainment, real estate, classifieds and sport. The letters to the editor is one of the largest sections of any free weekly paper. As one of the few independent newspapers in the country, it can investigate and report on issues without the interference of a corporate owner. ECHO (Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization) is dedicated to fighting world hunger through innovative options, agricultural training and networking with community leaders and missionaries in developing countries.
