The Oregon Region of Soka Gakkai International (SGI) is a buddhist community with the fundamental aim and mission of contributing to peace, culture and education based on the philosophy and teachings of the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin and the Buddha Shakyamuni. SGI-Oregon is part of a worldwide movement for peace and personal happiness. The Buddhist community covers the state of Oregon and Southwestern Washington.

The Los Angeles Friendship Center is primarily for used for Buddhist practice and study. In addition to its primary use, SGI-USA, along with neighborhood associations, promote activities based on peace, culture, education and art. Many events cover interesting topics such as Human Rights, Non-Violence, Relationships and Self Transformation.
