The Department of State Treasurer serves as the state's banker and chief investment officer, administers the public employee retirement systems and other employee benefit plans for public employees which are assigned to the department, assists units of local government in the state in maintaining strong fiscal health, and administers the escheat (unclaimed property) and abandoned property program.
