The web site is designed to gain attention for an 8-year-old little girl named Amanda. Amanda has a rare disease, she is classified as ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease), as a result of Nephrotic Syndrome, and had to have both kidneys removed October 2002. Amanda will have her transplant in October 2003, without steroids.

Amanda Jane Dombrowski lived with great passion for her family and friends which carried into her life as a teacher. The Amanda Jane Foundation exists to perpetuate her memory by rewarding local children who exhibit the characteristics that were so loved and now dearly missed.
