It is the mission of the Arizona State Board of Optometry to protect the health, safety and welfare of Arizona citizens by regulating and achieving the highest standards in the optometry profession. The Board examines, licenses, and regulates the profession of Optometric Doctors (O.D.) in the state of Arizona, as well as regulates out-of-state contact lens dispensers.

The purpose of this Agency is to protect the public by setting appropriate registration qualifications and enforcing state statutes relating to the practice of all Board-regulated professions and occupations.
