TIA has created a new tool that shows the economic impact of travel on the nation, all 50 states, and all congressional districts. The tool, PowerofTravel.org, is a first-of-its-kind, interactive website that shows the spending, jobs, tax receipts, and payroll created by travel going back to 1999. The website also shows how trends in international travel around the world have impacted the United States, and relates the declines in several key markets to an overall loss of 2 million overseas arrivals between 2000 and 2007. Visitors to the website can also download dozens of documents that contain additional travel facts and information on topics such as international travel promotion, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, and the Visa Waiver Program.
