Larissa Goldston Gallery is pleased to present Killjoy, the gallery’s second exhibition of paintings by Thomas Brouillette. The exhibition will be on view from October 28th through December 11th. There will be a reception for the artist on October 28th from 6 to 8pm.The paintings included in Killjoy explore diverse visual territory including cars, cakes, home entertainment centers and decorative figurines. While only some of the paintings depict iconography associated with the notion of bad luck, all of the canvases seem ominous. Executed in a vivid palette underscored by full spectrum shadows that often threaten to envelop the subject, Brouillette’s formal treatment of these objects removes them from their banal origins and imbues them with a seed of disquiet.
