The Art Academy at Monterey High School is a California Partnership Academy, a school- within-a-school, for students interested in the Visual and/or Performing Arts. There is integrated curriculum in English, social science, and science with an emphasis on arts, in classes with fellow Academy students. Students also take classes in the larger Visual and Performing Arts Department, as well as other MHS offerings. This is a college preparatory program. The Academy provides educational, professional, and social skills needed to succeed in a college and/or career. The Academy is committed to the concept of active student involvement, leadership, and teamwork. The Academy provides students with unique opportunities. These include:Fieldtrips and Speakers,Special Projects,Community Partnership and Service, and Mentor and Job Shadow (Juniors) Internships (Seniors).
